We all know that having a brisk sea breeze in our faces and hair is its own reward. We also know how beautiful our surroundings can be while we’re at sea. But let’s face it, there’s only so much wind and majestic beauty we can handle before we start getting bored. This can become a problem if one is going to be spending a lot of time out on the water. That is why I’ve compiled this short list of things to help ward off nautical boredom.
There isn’t a soul in the world that doesn’t like some sort of music. The great thing is that you don’t need to leave your music collection on shore. You can take it with you pretty much anywhere in the world, including on your boat in the middle of the ocean. All you need is an MP3 player. Many cell phones these days have MP3 players built into them. But while at sea, having a handheld GPS device is more useful than a cell phone. What is great is that many handheld GPS units have MP3 players built into them as well. All you need are a set of headphones and you are ready to rock the boat.
If you are looking for some other means of playing music, then you could get a nice sound system installed in your boat. This is a wonderful way to celebrate your love of music, especially if everyone aboard loves the same kind of music. Once you have a nice sound system installed, you can play CDs, run your mp3 player through the system, or get an AM/FM antenna so you can play your favorite station. Of course, the AM/FM antenna will only work near land, but the marine stereo will work for pretty much everything at any time.
When you are ready to relax for the evening though, you may want something other than some music. You may want to cook a nice meal and sit down to a nice movie with someone you love. That is where satellite TV would come in handy. There are some great satellite services for boats that enable you to watch pretty much whatever you want, whenever you want. Just imagine planning a dinner and a movie date with your significant other in the middle of the ocean.
Along the lines of having satellite TV, there will be another great source of entertainment at your disposal. Since most satellite plans offer more than just TV reception, you will be able to get online and use the Internet just like you’d be able to on dry land. As anyone who has been online will tell you, there is no greater source for entertainment than the Internet.
Of course, if you aren’t into music, TV, movies, or the Internet there are still things to do at sea. You could go fishing. There will be plenty of water to cast your line into. You may even want to use a fish finder to help you ensure a good catch for dinner. Or you may simply want to play a board game or do a puzzle. But no matter what you decide to do, make sure there is someone there to enjoy the fun with you. After all, what is the point of having an incredible voyage if there isn’t someone there to enjoy it with?
